Cyndi Lauper/Harvey Fierstein Musical KINKY BOOTS to Premiere in Chicago

Harvey Fierstein and Cyndi Lauper's new musical KINKY BOOTS, based on the movie of the same name, is set to have a premiere in Chicago at the Bank of America Theatre in October, with hopes to transfer to Broadway soon after in the 2013 season.

KINKY BOOTS had an invite-only workshop in New York this month and has been in development for at least three years. This will serve as Lauper's first ever musical score. Fierstein is a an established book writer with credits including La Cage Aux Folles and Newsies.

This could be interesting. I'm holding out on a verdict.

NEWSIES to Release Cast Recording!

The new Broadway musical NEWSIES based on the Disney film of the same name will have an original cast recording through Ghostlight Records due out later this spring. Check out more info in the video below.

The musical features music by Alan Menken (Little Mermaid) and a book by Harvey Fierstein. It stars Jeremy Jordan and Andrew Keenan-Bolger.

I am so excited that there will officially be a cast recording because the music I have heard is great and can't wait to actually see the show in March!!!
